Duane E. Lewis, 62, of Jasper, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Corning Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Hornell on December 29, 1962, Duane was the son of Glen E. and Sharon Reese Lewis. Raised in Jasper, he was a 1981 graduate of Jasper Central School.
Following high school, Duane served in the US Navy from 1982 until 1987. After his military service, he worked briefly at Polly-O Dairy in Campbell. He eventually left that job and was employed at the Kanona Truck Stop working in building maintenance.
Duane loved animals and especially enjoyed his feline companions over the years. He was an avid sports fan and had the uncanny ability to be able to recite entire team rosters for various professional sports teams.
Surviving are his sisters and their spouses, Doris and Tom Rude of Elmira and Connie and Terry Dieter of Cameron, his mother, Sharon Raver of Chiefland, FL, his nieces, Kousha Rude (Levi Carling), Rebecca (John) Decker, Trisha Rude (Matt Cook), Kasandra Oles, Alicia (Cody) Bynum and Amber Oles (Chris Whritenour) along with several great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.
Duane was predeceased by his father, Glen Lewis on February 28, 2020.
A graveside service with military honors will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg on Friday, July 18 at 1 pm.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
