Duane W. Teten, 90, of Talmage, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Cedar Creek of High Plains in Lincoln. He was born on November 29, 1934, in Talmage, to Reinhold Teten Sr. and Minnie (Kolsch) Teten. Duane graduated from Talmage High School in 1952.
Duane was united in marriage to Mary Johanna Hauberg and to this union, 4 children were born. In 1953, Duane enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1961. After his military service, he returned home and devoted his life to farming and raising quarter horses. A longtime member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), Duane was well-known for his extensive knowledge of horse pedigrees and sold horses across the United States and Canada. He also had a passion for antiques-buying pieces, refinishing them, and then selling them. He was also a skilled carpenter.
He is survived by his children, William "Bill" (Janet) Teten, David Teten, Linda Reetz, and Shari (Terry) Lindsey; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Lorene Trail; brother Reinhold Teten Jr.; and brother-in-law Robert Trail.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; brother Marvin Teten; and sisters-in-law Mary Teten and Virginia Teten.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery near Talmage.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Talmage.
