Duc Van Nguyen

January 1, 1949 – June 12, 2025

Duc Van Nguyen, 76, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Pasadena, California, after a courageous 2.5-year battle with long-COVID.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Duc lived a remarkable life marked by resilience, sacrifice, and deep love for his family.

Born on January 1, 1949, in Vietnam to Nguyen Van Loat and Pham Thi Yen, Duc was raised by his maternal grandparents, Pham Xuan Quynh and Nguyen Thi Khuong. Their values of hard work, education, and perseverance shaped the foundation of his life. In Vietnam, he served as a professor of history, geography, and mathematics-a calling that reflected his passion for learning and teaching. It was during his years as a teacher that he met his future wife, Irene Nga Nguyen, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and mutual respect.

In the aftermath of the Vietnam War, Duc and his family fled the country as refugees in search of safety and opportunity.

They settled in Worcester, Massachusetts, from 1975 to 1979. During these early years in America, Duc worked in ice rink and lawn maintenance, all while navigating a new culture and language. Committed to rebuilding his career, he returned to school and studied to become an aeronautical engineer.

In 1979, Duc and his family relocated to Los Angeles. He went on to build a nearly five-decade-long career as an aeronautical engineer, as an independent quality control consultant for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). His work was characterized by technical excellence, precision, and quiet dedication.

Beyond his professional achievements, Duc will be remembered most for his enduring love for his family.

He was a steady and caring presence-a loving husband, a proud father, and a joyful grandfather who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. He lived humbly, led by example, and offered strength without ever seeking recognition.

Duc is survived by his beloved wife, children and grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

His life was a testament to perseverance, integrity, and devotion. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep kindness, and unwavering love.
