Graveside services for Eddie E. Gildon, age 73, of Vernon, Texas, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Road, Elgin, Oklahoma. Burial with Military Honors will follow under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Eddie Eugene Gildon "Dr. Pepper" was born October 5th, 1951, in Clinton, Oklahoma to Fannie Mae Stanford and Robert Howard and raised in Frederick, Oklahoma where he went to school and later enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served his country for 3 years. He lived his life on his own terms, surrounded by the many people who touched and influenced his journey. With a taste for the finer things in life, he had the determination and ambition to acquire them. Eddie passed away June 14th, 2025, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennesse. Although sudden, Eddie's death was not unexpected as he fought through kidney failure for many years. We are saddened to see him go, but at peace that he's finally free of suffering. Eddie is preceded in death by his mother Fannie Mae Stanford, father Robert Howard. Grandmothers, Cleola Simms and Lizzie Love. Sisters: Calla Stanford, Nona Stanford, Nora Henry, Betty Robinson, Brenda Shepard. Brothers: Roney Gildon, Keith Gildon, and Larry Henry. He is survived by his stepfather, John Stanford. nine sisters: Esvanilla Cramer, Melva Gildon, Gayla Stanford, Maria Nunlee, Valencia Thompson, Beverly Jean Howard, Donzer Henry, Mayfrancis Sullivan, and Shirley Campbell. five brothers: Rex Gildon, Kopelyn Stanford, Tramaine Howard, Jeffery Howard and Tom Bruckner; eight children: Pamela Crowley, Kopelyn Gildon, Gayla Gildon, Tamika Toombs, Charity Burkett, Eddie Bailey, Nakeitha Harris and Adam Martin; and twenty-three grandchildren: KaMisha Crowley, Tywhan Crowley, Yvette Gildon, Christian Gildon, Ariel Gildon, Talesha Gildon, Kearsten Ball, DeAndre Gunther, Tashonda Cobb, Ja'Neeva Mayfield , Sonsyria Lennon, Jessie Lennon, Catherine Collins, Andrea Shepard, Syncere Jordan, Khameron Athy, Kae'Dyn Burkett, Eddie Bailey Jr., Kylie Bailey, Faith Bailey, Honesty Bailey, Sir'Don Harris'Hartfield, and Ja'Swan Harris'Hartfield. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
