Eddie Mae Thomas Jones was born on August 24, 1944, in Angleton, Texas to Lorenzo Thomas and Susie Hubbard and passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 80. As we gather to honor her memory, we celebrate the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her.
Eddie Mae attended and graduated from Marshall High School in 1962. At the tender age of 18 she provided domestic services to the Tom Tigner family where she was able to use her gift of cooking and baking. A time when she could really bring happiness to her family, (Tigner family). She also received joy in cooking and baking for other family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to eat any of her cooking. Eddie Mae was also employed at Kroger for many years.
She accepted Christ at an early age, united with First Missionary Baptist Church, later uniting with South Post Oak Baptist Church, before returning and later reuniting with First Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her demise. Eddie Mae served on the Food Committee, Women's Mission, Senior Choir, and Senior's On The Move. Eddie Mae was a shining example of positivity, kindness, and grace to all who knew her. Her life was dedicated to her family, and she always found the time to offer a listening ear, a warm hug and a compassionate heart. We know that Eddie Mae was welcomed home by parents, Lorenzo Thomas and Susie Hubbard-Hill, her daughter Frenchell Jones, and her siblings, Wilma Lee Holcombe, Rubye Lee Williams, Bernice James, Delouch, Davidson, and Clarence Baldwin; her aunts, Evie McDuffy, Alma Carr and Colena Hall; and her uncles, Curtis Hubbard, and L.C. Hubbard, all passed before her. She is survived by her son, Felton Jones and family, her special and devoted cousins Renee Mack, Jessica Willis, Vincent and Gloria Ward, her devoted extended family, Tom, Lyn, Marie, Frank, and their families; her godchildren, Zelma Edwards, Darnell Mack, Jr., and Clifton Franklin, along with her grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous loving relatives and friends.
