Eddie Carl Pulliam, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 20, 2025, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas, with Scotte Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Eddie was born on September 16, 1938, in Olney, Texas, to Carl F. and Lillian (Bankhead) Pulliam. He graduated from Olney High School in 1956. Eddie married Bette Sue Holder in 1959 in Waurika, Oklahoma, and they were married for sixty-three years before she preceded him in death in November of 2023. Eddie joined the Olney Volunteer Fire Department in 1963 before becoming the fire chief, where he served for twelve years and then served for several years as the assistant chief. He retired from the Olney Volunteer Fire Department after forty years of service in September 2003 at the age of 64. He was the 7th fire chief in the department since its beginning in 1912. Eddie owned and operated Pulliam Motors in 1958 and ran the business for thirty-two years until 1990. He taught auto mechanics at Olney High School from 1990 to 2004 and then served as the transportation director for Olney Independent School District until his retirement.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Carl F. and Lillian (Bankhead) Pulliam, and his wife, Bette Sue Pulliam.
Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Marilyn Pulliam and Clint and Sheila Pulliam of Olney; four grandchildren, Kali Swenson and her husband Blake of Iowa Park, Texas; Ethan and his wife Samantha Pulliam of Olney, Texas, Cooper and his wife Caitie Pulliam of Lubbock, Texas, and Casey and his wife Brianna Pulliam of Olney, Texas. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
