Edna Christine Tyler, 79, of Bessemer, Alabama passed away on June 30, 2025. Her son, Jimmy Bradley was with her when she passed.
Edna was lovingly known at American Legion Post 22 as "Lil Bit" and "Half Pint" but her favorite nicknames were "Mom" and "Granny". Edna was born and raised in Bessemer, attended Bessemer High School,. She loved to drive fast, listen to music, and dance. She never met a stranger and made a friend out of anybody. She truly would have "knocked someone upside the head" to have met Elvis Presley. And honestly, she loved nothing more than going to the casino to gamble. She was a hard worker. She loved to yell at the television while watching Alabama Crimson Tide Football.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Emily Allen, her husband Richard Tyler, two sisters Doodle Scott and Jackie Farmer, and two brothers Buddy Bedford and Billy Ray Allen.
She is survived by her son James "Jimmy" Bradley, and daughter Christy Bradley, step-children Allen Tyler and Karen Tyler, brother Frankie Allen, grandchildren April and Adam Keaton, Stephanie Sanderson, Hannah Cochran, Austin Cochran, and Rayven Woods, and great-granddaughter Vivian Lily Walden.
A funeral service honoring Edna's life will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM with a visitation prior at 12:00 PM. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery located next to Southcrest Baptist Church on South Shades Crest Road.
She loved the thrill of a gamble's spin,
A laugh, a smile, a "let's try again."
The lights, the sounds, the lucky streak
She lived for moments wild and sweet.
With flowers blooming in her hands,
She brought to life her own bright lands.
Petals shaped with love and care,
Colors dancing everywhere.
A crafter's soul with a heart so wide,
Always creating, nothing to hide.
Wreaths and ribbons, painted jars,
She saw the beauty in the stars.
Though life was not always kind or fair,
She fought with strength, she loved with flair.
She left her mark in every room,
In paper blooms and glittered bloom.
And now though silence fills the space,
We'll still feel her in every place
In gardens full, in lucky charms,
In handmade things and open arms.
So here's to Edna wild and free,
A flowered soul with creativity.
Her light lives on in those she knew,
In every craft, in me and you.
