Edward S. Chargo September 20, 1934 – August 3, 2025 Edward "Ed"(Eddie) Chargo of Golden Valley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Minneapolis on September 20, 1934, Ed grew up in Willmar and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War conflict. A dedicated entrepreneur, he spent the the first part of his career as the owner of Willmar Produce and Steel in Willmar, Minnesota, where he and his beloved wife, Roberta (Bobbie) raised their three children: Steve, Cory, and Tamara. In 1985, Ed and Roberta moved to the Twin Cities and founded GI Joe Surplus, an Army-Navy surplus store in Crystal, MN that later relocated to New Hope, MN where they worked together for over 20 years. Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Roberta; his parents, Sophie and Morris; and his brother, Harvey. He is survived by his children, Steve (Robyn), Cory, and Tamara Phillips (Rick); seven grandchildren Dan (Sara), Ben, Alex (Hannah), Ari, Alaina (Jake), Emily, Lev; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Skylar, Nora, Sloane; his sister, Joan Silver (Allen); and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him as a good, generous, and loving man with a great sense of humor. A heartfelt thank you to all of his home care aides over the past 9 months, especially Doreen, Bonni, Josephine, Lynda, and Taizue.
