Born on March 2, 1931, in Newport, Kentucky, Edward dedicated 40 years of his life to a fulfilling career as a truck driver with Pure Oil Company, developing lasting connections throughout his time on the road.
Edward was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Hollister. His love for his country was evident in every aspect of his life, as he carried a wonderful sense of humor, extended caring to those around him, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
An alumnus of Newport Catholic High School, Edward is remembered not only for his work ethic but also for the joy he brought to his family. He was the devoted husband of 71 years to Sylvia Cole, and together they created a loving household that prioritized togetherness and adventure. Family camping trips were a cherished tradition, along with weekly Saturday lunches that became the backdrop for countless memories shared over good food and laughter.
Edward's legacy continues through his children: Steve (Ellen) Cole, Peggy (Richard) Bedel, Patti (the late Arnold) Sandman, Edward (Mindy) Cole Jr., and Sherri Freudiger. As a proud grandfather, Edward delighted in his role, nurturing the spirits of 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Betty Cole and many nieces and nephews who will forever hold dear the lessons and love he imparted throughout his life. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Anna Marie Cole, and siblings John (Flo) Cole, Richard Cole, Maryanne Clark, and Paul (Carol) Cole.
A visitation in honor of Edward will be held on July 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Church (Gathering Space) in Cincinnati, Ohio. A Mass will follow at the same location from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, culminating with an interment at St. Joseph New Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
Edward Cole leaves behind a profound legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family that will be remembered for generations to come. He touched the lives of many, and his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him.
