Edward Lee Crittenden, known by most as simply, Ed, a beloved father, devoted husband, and proud veteran, was born on November 1, 1946, and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 78, in Texarkana, TX.
Ed was known for his larger-than-life personality and his love and devotion to his family. A man who brought joy and laughter to those around him, he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he dedicated many years to his career at the Red River Army Depot as an inspector, from which he later retired. Outside of his professional life, Edward was a dedicated Mason, valuing the camaraderie and principles of the organization.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Crittenden and Tenora Keeling; his brother, Clifton Crittenden, Jr.; and his children, Anita Crittenden and Terry Crittenden.
Ed's legacy lives on through his surviving wife Kathie Crittenden, his children: Marcia and Steve Turner of Texarkana, Edward "Scooter" Crittenden Jr. of Texarkana, Ron and Teresa Mitchell of McKinney, TX, and Dexter Crittenden of Coppell, TX, and stepchildren: Michael (Rose) Criner or San Antonio, TX, Stephen (Gera) Smith of Plano, TX, Shakiela Collins of Texarkana, and Roy Collins of Texarkana. He is also survived by his sister: Gladys Washington of Rio Vista, CA and his brothers in law Harry Truman and Allen Harris of Texarkana and his favorite first cousin James Smith of Texarkana. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
