Mr. Edward Drake, Sr., was born in Crowley, Louisiana in the Acadia Parish on October 8, 1936, to the late Antwine Lewis and Annie M. Drake. Edward lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Mr. Drake was a smart man. Although he did not finish high school, he proved that education comes in many forms. His wisdom, knowledge, and dedication allowed him to serve his country with honor and dedication for over twenty years in the United States Navy and Army. After his military service, he became a successful business owner, founding MJD Cleaning Service, where he poured his heart into his work and took pride in providing top-notch cleaning services.
Edward had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did. He loved to cook and could often be found whipping up delicious meals for family and friends. Fishing was his favorite pastime, where he found peace and joy. His generosity knew no bounds-Edward had a unique ability to take care of those around him, always ensuring everyone felt loved and appreciated.
On July 1, 2025, Edward Drake, Sr. completed his earthly journey just nine days after the passing of his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. Drake and parents, Antwine Lewis and Annie M. Drake.
Mr. Drake's memories will forever be remembered and cherished by his children, Edward Drake, Jr., Gregory W. (Jacquelyn) McClellan, Chi Nguyen, Sonya (Meatrice) Jones, and Alicia (Jamarr) Cross; grandchildren, Edward Drake, III, Stephanie Matson, Rebecca (Matthew) Bartlett, and Tyrell Jones; a host of great-grandchildren; niece, Jacqueline (Damen) Miller; other family members and friends.
As we reflect on Edward's journey, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives, the lessons he taught us, and the love he shared. We will miss him dearly, but we will carry his spirit with us always.
