Edward Wayne Elders, age 86, passed from this life on Saturday, July 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Known to most as Wayne, he was born December 17, 1938, in Millsap, Texas, to A.D. Elders and Lorene (Savage) Elders. He proudly served his country in the National Guard.
Wayne began his career at General Dynamics and later retired from Lockheed after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of Brock Baptist Church. Wayne was a dairy man and an avid farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing dominoes, but above all, he deeply cherished time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Lorene Elders; sisters, Fay Jean Herron and Gail Shires; brother, David Elders; his first wife, Linda June (Baker) Elders, who passed in October 1971; son-in-law, Keith Massie; and grandson, Cody Lee Waller.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Vada Mae Elders of Weatherford, Texas; daughters, Rhonda Massie and fiancé, Danny Welch, and LaDonna Pope and husband, Brian. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Courtney Cornelius and husband, Nolan; Kyle Massie and wife, Laura; Cole Geeo and wife, Jayme; Kendra Roberts and husband, D.J.; Bella Massie; and Noah Massie. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Madison, Payton, Cavin, Bryson, Lane, Kade, Kenlee, and Cutter.
Wayne is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Ginger Bradley; sisters-in-law, Ann Herring and Linda Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Johnny Shires; and many nieces and nephews; and extended family.
