Edward Race Obituary

Edward Charles Race, Jr. (Big Ed), age 74, passed away on June 12th 2025 surrounded by the love and comfort of family. Born on March 3, 1951, Edward was widely recognized for his spunky personality and big grin.
Ed had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in camping, tinkering, sitting by fires, hunting and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers; all of which was enjoyed with the company of family and friends. An entrepreneur whos' specialty was cabinetry and camper repair. Ed was known for his resourcefulness, and his ability to fix just about anything.
Ed was born in Milwaukee where he met his wife, Linda whom he married in 1979. Love quickly bloomed providing two wonderful children, Edward III and Samantha. After moving from Milwaukee in 1993 they settled in their forever home in Bevent, WI.
Edward is survived by a loving family that includes his wife, Linda Race; his children, Edward (Selena) Race III and Samantha (Kevin) Kropidlowski; his brother, Dale (Karen) Race; sisters-in-law, Carol Race and Karen Kass; and brother-in-law, Wayne (Sherry) Wanta. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Em Race and Ava Kropidlowski; two step-granddaughters, Courtney Hansen and Kaitlynn (Ty) Broekemeier; one step-grandson, Zach (Michelle) Hansen; five step-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Race Sr & Geraldine Race; His brother, Warren Race; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Anton & Josephine Wanta; Brother-in-law, Hilary Wanta.
The family will honor his life with a memorial service, to be held at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, WI on July 18th 2025 at 1pm with visitation being from 11am-1pm. A celebration of life will follow thereafter at Bevent Town Hall from 2pm-7pm. Those wishing to honor Ed's life & legacy are welcome to attend.
