Ed was born in 1930 in Belfast, Maine to his father Gee Coy and mother Hazel Curtis Coy. The family eventually settled in the lower east side of Manhattan. Ed was one of six children. Growing up Ed was a hard worker and ambitious even at a young age. He worked many jobs, starting at the age of 13, to help support his family. Ed enjoyed many sports, especially football, basketball and bowling. As a child he would often be found in the park playing these sports, and as an adult bowling played an important part in his life. He was on a team that played in Madison Square Garden. A knee injury sidelined him as a youngster, and it was an injury that he had to bare throughout his life. Ed married Louise Payne and they had six children. Eventually they divorced. Ed always worked two jobs: one as a security guard and the other as a manager for the textile company Milliken. It was at this time that he met and married Eleanor Weingardt. They moved to Glendale and raised a family. Ed retired at the age of 72. Eventually he and Eleanor relocated to Queensbury, New York. Ed is survived by his children Janice, Earl, Gary, James, Craig and Helen (deceased). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
