Edwin S. Mruk, 92, of Larchmont, NY, Watch Hill, RI, and Delray Beach, FL, passed away on July 13, 2025 at Brightview Senior Living in Towson, MD.
Born on November 29, 1932 in Coventry, RI, Edwin was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Stephanik) Mruk, and husband to the late Cecilia (Levesque) Mruk. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Stanley, and Walter Mruk.
Edwin graduated was a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science in business and a minor in psychology, and an accredited diplomate of the American Compensation Association. He served as an arbitrator for both the NASD and the New York Stock Exchange and was a senior partner at Mruk & EMA Partners, Management Consultants, and formerly at Ernst & Young. Edwin also founded EMA Partners International where he served as chairman. In his industry, he held a role as group senior vice president at a large public corporation, responsible for human resources management, administration, and corporate relations.
An accomplished author, he published numerous books and articles on corporate governance, board structure, management selection, and executive compensation. For many years, he co-authored the acclaimed Arthur Young executive compensation studies, drawing on survey data from approximately 850 companies, and served as a compensation consultant to the Corporate Law Section of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Edwin was a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, the American Society for Personnel Administration, the American Management Association, and the American Board of Vocational Experts. Additionally, he served on the advisory board of the Corporate Governance Institute at Florida Atlantic University. In recognition of his contributions, the Association of Executive Search Consultants named him a "pioneer of executive search." Edwin thoroughly enjoyed his career, working until he was 85.
Edwin was of the catholic faith and loved both his family and church family. He enjoyed cooking and eating the delicious meals he prepared. He will be greatly missed.
Edwin is survived by his children, Gregory Mruk of Millbrook, NY and Andrew Mruk of Westminster, MD; grandchildren, Joseph, Coden, Daniel, Samuel, Benjamin, and Maggie Mruk; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private for immediate family only. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
