Edwin "Eddie" Duane Murray, 70, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025. He was the son of the late Otsie "Boots" and Alice (Morris) Murray. There will be a Celebration of Life for Eddie at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel on his birthday, Thursday, July 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Eddie was born on July 24, 1954, in Columbia, MO. He grew up in McBaine and graduated from Hickman High School in 1972. Eddie loved baseball and softball, which he played for several years. He later became a golfer and enjoyed playing golf for many years. Eddie was known for his cooking abilities, carefree attitude, and sense of humor.
Eddie graduated from the IBEW Electrical Training Program and became a journeyman electrician in 1982. In 1986 he became an electrical inspector for the City of Columbia. He started his own remodeling business in 1989 which he continued for 14 years. In 2003 he went back to electrical work until he became disabled and retired in 2012.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Owenetta (Burks) Murray; his three sons, Edwin D. Murray II, Ryan D. Murray (Hilary), and Clint L. Murray; five grandchildren, Breanna, Alyssa, William, Paxton, and Seth; three great-grandchildren, Kenlee, Nevaeh, and Stetson. He is also survived by his five siblings, Lola, Otsie, Barry, Mary, and Melanie; several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.
