Elaine was born November 13, 1941, and raised in Leonville, La. She was a 1959 graduate of Leonville High School. She met and married the love of her life, Mike Couvillon and was blessed with 5 children, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and Baby Ray due in July.
She worked for the State of Louisiana as a Clerk for the Cecilia Health Unit for 40 years until her retirement in 1999. She was such a caring and giving person willing to help anyone in need.
Better known as “Granny”, which was one of her most proudest roles, she enjoyed spending every minute with her family. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play ball, as well as gardening and watching her game shows. Family was everything to Granny, especially those grandbabies.
She is survived by her children, Kim Couvillon, Jill Couvillon Ray, Brian Couvillon, Jamie Couvillon Fruge’ and husband Neal, and Julie Couvillon Credeur. Her grandchildren Christian M. Ray, McKenzie Fruge’, Landon Credeur, Morgan Couvillon and Baylee Couvillon, her great grandchildren Connor Ray, Emersyn Ray, Cohen Ray and Baby Ray due in July. Sister, Donna Pontiff and husband Gerald of Arnaudville. Her Sisters-in-law Merley C. Landry and husband Donald of Lafayette, Mitzi C. Benoit of Cecilia and Vickie D. Mistric of Youngsville.
Although our hearts are shattered by Mama, “Granny’s” passing, the memories we hold will live on forever. Our comfort is knowing that she is with her loved ones and especially our Dad.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Mike Couvillon, her mother Beunice Carriere Mistric, her in-laws Ione and Walter Couvillon, brother Mike Mistric, sister Susan Mistric Griffin, niece Alisa Landry Broussard, nephews David and Seale Benoit and brother-in-law Cecil Benoit.
Pallbearers will be Brian Couvillon, Christian Ray, Landon Credeur, Neal Fruge’, Douglas Landry and Shannon “Guff” Huval.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Breaux Bridge Dialysis Center for taking such good care of our Mother, all of you were like family to her, Dr. Kirk Elliott and Staff, Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital and Staff and Mrs. Rebecca LeBlanc for visiting with Mama every Saturday to bring her communion.
