Elba Andino Obituary

Elba Iris Andino age 85 beloved mother of Janice and Annette and loving grandmother to Kristen Jade passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She was born in 1940 in Utuado, Puerto Rico and grew up surrounded by her large family. Elba achieved a bachelors degree from Montclair State University and a Masters degree in social work from Rutgers University. As a civic leader and activist in Newark, NJ Elba worked with the office of the mayor in the Newark human rights commission. Elba was also one of the founders of La Casa, Don Pedro. Her passion for helping others continued as a social worker at Jersey City Medical Center, East Orange General Hospital, and with the Newark Public schools. Elba will always be remembered for her compassion for others and love of music and theater.
