In Loving Memory of Elisama Puente
Elisama Puente was born in Weatherford, Texas, and raised in Houston, Texas. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends during her final hours.
Elisama is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eva Garza Puente; father, Santiago Torres Puente; and brother, Benjamin Moreno. She is survived by her sister, Eva Puente Hernandez; and brothers, Aaron Puente, Abisai Puente, and David Puente. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins both in the United States and Mexico.
Elisama was a constant source of guidance, wisdom, and faith in the lives of those around her. She was a devout Christian whose unwavering faith inspired many. She shared the love of Christ with everyone she met and lived as a beacon of light and spiritual strength.
She proudly served her country in the United States Army from 1984 to 1989. Following Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, she completed Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, where she became a Medical Laboratory Specialist. Her permanent duty station was with Charlie Company, 201st Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. Elisama achieved the rank of Specialist (E-4) and was honorably discharged, having received the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
Elisama furthered her education at the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education, graduating Cum Laude in 1993. She continued postgraduate studies in Latin American History earning a Master of Arts degree.
Elisama will be remembered most for her steadfast love of God, her Savior Jesus Christ, and her deep devotion to her family. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
