Elita G. Kayyaly, 61, of Washington, IL, passed away on March 24, 2025, after a brief illness. Elita was born on July 25, 1963, in Kennett, Missouri, to Jeff and Bonita Corbett. She married Mohammad Kayyaly on March 18, 1988, in Peoria, IL. He passed away on May 12, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Atef Kayyaly. Surviving is her daughter, Olivia (Brayden) Blunier of Roanoke, IL; sister Rhonda (Dan) Bachman of Peoria, IL; sisters-in-law Lina, Rola, and Mona Kayyali; brother-in-law Mazen Kayyali, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Elita graduated from Bradley University with degrees in International Studies and Spanish. She and her husband enjoyed traveling internationally to such places as England and the Holy Land. Elita enjoyed being a mother so much, and loved attending and helping with all of Olivia's activities in sports, Peoria Ballet, and the Peoria Area Performing Arts Studio. Elita was a devoted employee and worked at various companies, including Cohen's Furniture, State Farm Insurance, and most recently Illinois Mutual Insurance Company where she was a Senior Underwriter.
We will all miss Elita's great sense of humor, her wonderful cooking, and the wise counsel that she gave to many of us over the years. Elita was a member of Crossroads Methodist Church in Washington. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington, IL, with a memorial service to follow officiated by Pastor Phil Bachman. Elita was a lifelong animal lover and memorials may be given in her name to Tazewell Animal Protective Society.
