Elizabeth "Betty" Castro, a longtime resident of Odenton, Md. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 11, 2025.
Betty was born in Washington, D.C. on November 3, 1943 to Shelburne and Helen Midjette.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be remembered for her kindness, strength, compassion, caring nature and love of animals.
She was a private person who didn't like the spotlight on her but it was hard not to notice her with her great sense of humor and beauty.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and pets, reading, listening to music and sometimes winning more than a few dollars at the casino or horse track.
Before retirement, Betty was an executive assistant to directors of federal and military agencies and was a professional, well liked and regarded employee.
Betty was survived by her devoted husband Conrad "Cas" Castro who passed away on June 14, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Veronica Castro, Mia Painter, Guy Castro and Brenda (Joseph) Wallace. Grandchildren, Jordan (Esmeralda), Luke, Faith, Ava, Olivia, Sofia, Christopher, Gracie and great grandchild Santiago "Chago."
She is also survived by brothers Theodore Midjette, John Midjette and sister Patricia Midjette-Starkey.
Visitation will be on June 30 from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. in Odenton, Md. A funeral mass will be held July 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Glen Burnie, Md. with burial to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Md.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to your favorite horse or children's care charity.
