Elizabeth “Lib” Nale Headrick, age 93, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025.
Born on December 29, 1931, in Bogota, Tennessee, Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward and Nettie May Nale. She was one of a large and loving family and is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, six sisters, and her beloved husband of 71 years, Army First Sergeant Evans Benjamin “Bum” Headrick.
Elizabeth’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and strength. As a proud military wife, she faithfully supported her husband’s long and distinguished career in the United States Army. She raised their children, managing their home with grace and resilience through training assignments, a deployment to Korea, and multiple relocations including South Carolina, Kansas, and Augsburg, Germany. After Bum’s retirement from the military, the Headricks settled in Biloxi and later Gulfport, where they remained close to their children, grandchildren, and extended family.
A devoted woman of faith, Elizabeth was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Biloxi, where she joyfully served in the children’s ministry, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She also cared for children in her home for many years. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on generations of young lives. Elizabeth treasured family above all else. She found joy attending 4th of July Nale family reunions in Tennessee, vacationing with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at Disney World and Gatlinburg, and hosting cherished holiday gatherings—especially Christmas Eve, which became a beloved tradition filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Holtzclaw (Don); sons, Rodney (Peggy), Mark (Brenda), and Michael (Michelle); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Elite Home Care and Arden Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at noon on Friday, July 18 at Riemann Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Pallbearers will be Kevin Holtzclaw, Tim Headrick, Chris Headrick, Chase Headrick, Corey Headrick, Corey Wade, Rob Meador, and Tyler Ladner.
