Elizabeth "Lizzy" Hribar (Moews), age 68 of Manhattan, formerly of Mokena, passed away on July 13, 2025. Survived by her loving husband of 47 years Mark Hribar, sons Joshua (JBB) and Eric Hribar, and niece Carolyn Watson. Preceded in death by her parents Charles "Cubby" and Wanda (Hunter) Moews and brother Charles "Chuck" Moews.
Lizzy graduated from St. Barbara High School and quickly jumped into her government career. She started off on the administrative side of the USDA in Food and Nutrition services. She was promoted to the USDA Office of Inspector General and eventually became a law enforcement support specialist with topped out pay. She retired from her position after spending over 41.5 years in the federal world.
Lizzy was a wild child who loved her family to no end. She met her dear Mark at his fire department house when she was out "trolling" the town with her group of friends, which spoke to her adventurous spirit and kickstarted their love story. They married in 1978 and raised two boys together. She was consistent about putting them first before anything in life. Overall, she was sporty and outgoing, from her former softball league in her younger years to her bowling expenditures later on- she was keen on keeping active with her friends and family. She once bowled a perfect 300 which brought her great pride. In her social world, she was an avid fan of Bunco nights with her girlfriends and rotated between everyone's houses to play, enjoying Mark's cooking when hosting at their own. Lizzy was also well known for her nostalgic nature. She held onto her collections tightly, between grandfather clocks, her precious Seraphim angels, clothes and jewelry. Her family referred to her as the "picture queen" because she adored capturing anything she laid her eyes on that held her interest. She would have loved to travel more, but she visited many unique locations through the states in her time, which she gathered many memories of through her photos. A darling and dedicated wife, mother, auntie, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation for Lizzy will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Private burial only for immediate family. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
