Elizabeth Orlando Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" McCue Orlando, age 95, of Ossining, New York passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Bethel Nursing Home in Ossining. Betty was born in Ossining, New York to the late John J. McCue and Mary Hoar McCue, on June 11, 1930.
Betty attended Mary Immaculate School, graduating from high school in 1948. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from St Mary of the Springs, in Columbus, Ohio, now known as Ohio Dominican University, in 1952. Betty earned a master's degree in elementary education from SUNY New Paltz and a master's degree in library science from Queens College. She spent her career as an educator in the Ossining School District. Betty started as a third-grade teacher at Park School in 1956. After a few years as a third-grade teacher, she started teaching math and science. Betty then became an elementary school librarian at Park School and at Brookside School, retiring from the Ossining School District in 1986.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph M. Orlando whom she married in 1967. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Mastroberardino; her nieces Margaret Lunger and Jeanne Mastroberardino; great nieces Grace Lunger and Rose Lunger; and several cousins.
Throughout her life Betty enjoyed traveling, crocheting, playing cards and board games, and spending time with her dear friends. Betty was active in St. Ann's Parish spending many Mondays' counting the weekly donations. She was a proud, lifelong resident of Ossining. Betty loved being a teacher and often ran into former students, their children and their grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for her at St. Ann's Church, 25 Eastern Avenue, Ossining, New York on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Nursing Home or to St. Ann's Church.
