Elizabeth (Liz) Jean (Willard) Quimby, born December 1, 1932, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Bethany Long-Term Care from natural causes.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Billy B. Quimby and son, John. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Councell; her grandchildren, Heather Sauls, Chris Quimby, Justin Quimby, Anthony Quimby, Jennifer Quimby, Ashton Quimby; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was born and raised in Waupaca, graduating from Waupaca High School. As an Army wife, she lived in several places across the country before the family returned to Waupaca for good in 1965. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 5 decades.
She worked as a nurse's aide at Bethany LTC for over a decade.
Liz drove a school bus for the Waupaca School District for many years. Many students remembered her no-nonsense attitude-especially if they misbehaved and she warned them she'd "sit on them" if they didn't shape up.
Liz loved to tinker and "jury-rig" things to suit her needs, often in creative and unexpected ways. That habit didn't stop when she moved into Bethany-something the staff there could easily confirm.
In the final years of her husband's life, she cared for him at home as he battled Alzheimer's disease.
There will be a memorial in the chapel of Bethany Home, 1226 Berlin St, Waupaca, WI 54981 at 10 am Tuesday, June 24, 2025. A simple lunch will be served afterward.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. https://alzfdn.org/donate/
