Ella Marie Hobbs was born March 25, 1945, in Mena, Arkansas, to George Lewis Poston and Reatha Roberta (Willis) Poston. She departed this life, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 11 days.
Growing up, Ella attended grade school in Twain Hart, California then Summerville High School in Tuolumne County, California. Later in life, she was proud to have obtained her GED. After meeting at a roller rink and dating for some time, Ella married the love of her life, Jimmy Munroe Hobbs, on September 22, 1961, in Sonora, California. To this union was born 2 daughters, Stephanie and Peggy. Jimmy preceded Ella in death on December 11, 2019. The couple had been married for over 58 years.
Ella lived in Arkansas and California before making her home in Leach, Oklahoma. Over the years, she worked at Franklin Electric as a press operator for over 19 years and the yarn mill in Pryor, Oklahoma for over 10 years. She also worked at Locust Grove Public Schools, Mercedes Benz, and an Overhead Door Company for some time. Her greatest dedication came as a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She also loved helping around the family farm and taking care of their animals.
Ella was a hard worker and provider for her family. She enjoyed sewing and doing crochet work. She loved tending to her flowers. Ella was a person that was not afraid to be in charge. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Ella is survived by: 2 daughters: Stephanie Morrison and husband Edgar of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Peggy Evans and husband Kelly of Leach, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren: Alyssa Chidester and husband Ryan of Claremore, Oklahoma, Dereck Evans of Leach, Oklahoma, and Beth Reed and husband Terry of Lafayette, Tennessee; 8 great-grandchildren: Claire, Connor, Myles, Hudson, Letty, Autumn, Mikayla, and Justin; 1 brother: Homer Ray Poston and wife Vivian of Arizona; a nephew that was raised as a son: Jerry Poston and wife Robin of Jay, Oklahoma; as well as numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Ella was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Teresita Cemetery at Teresita, Oklahoma. Pastor Bryson Bailey will officiate. Services are entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
