She lived most of her life in Delaware, where she built a loving home with her husband, John Lakey. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Ellen was known for her deeply caring and compassionate spirit. Her warmth and genuine concern for the happiness and well-being of others touched the lives of all who knew her. Ellen worked as a nursing assistant, dedicating her life to caring for her patients with kindness and dignity. Her gentle heart and nurturing nature extended far beyond her profession-she was a source of love, comfort, and encouragement to her family and friends every day of her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, John Lakey; her sons, Rocky Lakey and his fiancée Cindy, and Shawn Lakey; her grandchildren, Ross Allison and his wife Ashley, Nate Matthews, and Alex Alberty; and her sister, Helen. Ellen also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruby Ryan (Charbaneau); her sisters, Norma, Sadie, Dixie, and Dot; her brothers, Kenny and Jim; her beloved children, son Phillip and daughter Jeanie; and her cherished fur baby, Buddy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stumpff's Funeral Home in Nowata. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, July 31, at 10:00 AM at Nowata Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Comforting Hands Hospice for their comfort and compassionate care during Ellen's final days. Ellen's life was a testament to selflessness, kindness, and unwavering love. She touched countless hearts with her generosity and spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
