Ellen May Spencer, of Westphalia and formerly of Belle, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Stonebridge of Westphalia.
Ellen was born September 30, 1952 in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Calvin I. and Vernetta E. (Bialczyk) Barton.
Ellen attended the Metro Business College in Jefferson City, the East Central College in Union, and Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Ellen had worked for the Brown Shoe Company, Huntco Healthcare in Belle, Scholastic in Jefferson City, and for the State of Missouri for a time.
Ellen liked to be outdoors and liked to go camping and hunting as well as raising flowers in her garden. She was a collector and enjoyed telling stories of past experiences. Ellen was giving and kind and would help anyone in need. She loved all of her pet dogs and adored her grandchildren. She will be missed by those that knew and loved her.
Ellen is survived by her two children; Mike Spencer and his fiancé Crystal Binkley of Jefferson City and Melissa Spencer and her fiancé Gene Malone of Centralia; four grandchildren, Matt Spencer and his wife Breanna, Harley Spencer and her fiancé Garrett Vangennip, Kailey Spencer and her fiancé Zak Tune, and Mikey Spencer; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Kaison Spencer; and three sisters Pattie Potts and her husband Harry, Alberta Spencer, and Betty Fawcett and her husband Jim as well as many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Pogue Crowder and one brother Ivan Barton.
A memorial service will be held at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle on Friday, July 25, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
