Funeral Service for Eloisa M. Medina will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Viewing will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025, and from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6:00 pm on Monday.
Eloisa was born on December 9, 1948, to Emilio and Maria de Jesusa Torres Mendez in Three Rivers, TX. She passed away on July 2, 2025, at the age of 76.
Eloisa, known affectionately as the "Happy Cook," made her mark in the hospitality industry, serving joyfully at locations such as Brownfield Cub for nearly 30 years, as well as the Holiday Inn (Crystal Palace), the Plaza, and Rosa's before that. Her family fondly attests that her home kitchen was the finest restaurant of all, where love was the key ingredient. Eloisa had a passion for cooking that brought people together, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Beyond her culinary talents, Eloisa embraced an array of hobbies that reflected her creative spirit. She took great joy in hand-embroidery, hunting for treasures at garage sales, and mastering the strategy of Solitaire. An avid fan of WWF, she brought her unique enthusiasm into every aspect of her life. Eloisa’s heart was a beacon of love, and she dedicated herself to her family, always enjoying family gatherings and vacations.
Eloisa was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Maria de Jesusa Mendez; her brother, Juan Mendez; sister, Elida Mendoza; and daughter, Maria Teresa Medina. She is survived by husband Jose Medina Sr.; children, Isabel Segovia (Luis), Jose Medina Jr. (Delia), Kristina Garcia, Marcela Medina (John), Fabian Medina (Clarissa), Gabriella Medina, and Esmeralda Medina; 6 brothers, Emilio Mendez Jr., Lupe Mendez, Francisco Mendez, Alfred Mendez, Marcos Mendez, and Carlos Mendez; 3 sisters, Elena Zuniga (Mario), Elidia Ramirez (Beto), and Jesusa Mendez; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
