Emmitt Richard Harkey
Emmitt Richard Harkey, 91, of San Saba, Texas passed away on May 26, 2025 in Brownwood, Texas. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.
Emmitt Richard Harkey was born at home in San Saba, Texas to Elvin and Cleo Harkey. Richard attended San Saba High School, after graduation he was drafted into the Army, during the 6 years he was in the Army he was stationed in Germany for a time. He met and married Floydene Marler and they spent over 60 wonderful years together. The day before Richard's 30th birthday he fell from a windmill which led him to be paralyzed. Through these difficult times he found peace in bee keeping, a job that kept him active and thriving. Richard loved tending to his garden, playing the harmonica and playfully squirting MawMaw with a water bottle. He loved Christ, quoting the Bible and giving Bible lessons.
Richard is survived by his wife Floydene, his children, Sheryl Jensen, Amy Schneider and husband Ernest, and Pam Casco and husband Greg; grandchildren, Raina, Daniel and wife, Terry and husband, Elaine, Yancy and wife Kate, Dayna and husband Dustin, Richard and wife Angela, Brandi and husband Trey, Roger and wife Rosa, Reid, Houston, Jairo, and Reigan; great-grandchildren, Cody, Alex, Kara, Gabriel,Kevin, Alex and wife Julia, Mary, Holly, Brodie, Alyssa, Corey, Makyla, Stormy, Benjamin, Noah, Alexandra, Brianna, Brian, Brittany, Brantley, Riley, Landon, Daylin, Rylan, Casen, Alton, Trustyn, Willow, Tommy, Soliseya, and Mila, as well as many great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, a brother Jimmie, and sister-in-law Pat
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry, and a sister-in-law, Sue.
