Eric Samuel Strandberg II, lovingly known by many as Gingie to his close friends, Eric at work, Samuel by his family, and Strandberg to his army buddies, went to be with the Lord June 11, 2025, at the age of 25.
Born on October 10, 1999, in Omak, Washington, Eric Samuel grew up in the tight-knit community of Tonasket, where he graduated from Tonasket High School.
In 2018, driven by strong sense of duty and adventure, Eric Samuel enlisted in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, with Delta Company 2-58th, 1st Platoon. After graduating as a Light Infantryman, he advanced to Airborne School, where he earned his wings and became an Infantry Paratrooper. He was then assigned to the 1-509th Airborne Infantry (Geronimo) at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Eric Samuel's unwavering determination and unmatched physical endurance earned him recognition across the military. With a maxed-out PT score- the highest possible score you can achieve- and expert qualification on his rifle, he was hand-selected for the elite Recon Platoon, composed of the unit's top Infantrymen. Eric Samuel completed the grueling tasks and earned his Expert Infantry Badge, where only 30 of 500 candidates earned their badge- he was one of them. He was also Combat Lifesaver Qualified, a role that required emergency medical training. His accomplishments and leadership earned him a promotion to team leader in Able Company. Eric Samuel was the 100% go to guy, per his Platoon Sergeant.
After his honorable discharge in 2021, Eric Samuel returned home and began working as a truck driver for his father's company. In 2023, his entrepreneurial spirit flourished when he co-founded Invictus Gym with his partner Zion Butler. Shortly after opening the gym, Eric Samuel experienced a life-altering accident that left him paralyzed- but true to his nature, he bounced back and seemed to only grow stronger. He didn't just get stronger; he made everyone around him stronger too- in mind, body, and spirit. In 2024, Eric Samuel launched Strandberg Properties and purchased the building that houses the gym and another local business which is another testament to his drive and vision.
At the core of Eric Samuel's life was his deep and unshakable faith in God. He was a devoted believer who continually sought to grow in his walk with Christ. Eric Samuel committed himself to studying the Bible, often discussing scripture and sharing insights with those around him. His relationship with God was his foundation- guiding his actions, strengthening his character, and anchoring his purpose.
Eric Samuel lived life with unmatched passion and energy. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends and was known for his contagious laugh, mental and physical strength, and ability to motivate those around him. He loved lifting weights, running, riding his horse Cowboy, skiing, flying airplanes, smoking cigars and long drives down dirt roads with 90's country. Along with his love for his hobbies, he was a firearm enthusiast. He was a true American spirit- rugged, relentless, and full of heart.
Eric Samuel is survived by his loving parents, Eric Strandberg and Deanna Strandberg; his siblings: Raylene Ray (husband Pat Delfeld and children Payton, Amilia, Ryder, and Roman; Page Davisson (husband Nick McCallum and daughter Brinlee); Brook Laurie (husband Tyler Laurie and children Ridge and Rage); and his youngest sister Evanna Strandberg, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Tonasket Free Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery in Loomis.
Eric Samuel's legacy of strength, faith, loyalty, and unyielding purpose will live on in the heart of all who knew and loved him.
