Erik Wayne Scallorn, 42, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his home.
Born on January 3, 1983, in Columbus, IN, he was the son of Steven Wayne Scallorn and Joyce Ann (Thompson) Scallorn. Erik was a 2001 graduate of Seymour High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he studied Biology and Botany.
He worked at Gina's Whiskey Lounge in Platteville, WI, then at Montchevre Cheese Factory in Belmont, WI, and later for several years as a quality technician at Winnebago Foundry in South Beloit, IL.
Erik was an avid gardener who loved growing hot peppers. He also enjoyed reading, leather working, playing Dungeons and Dragons, playing disc golf, and spending time with his dog, Lucy. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend who cherished spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Ann Scallorn of Columbus; his sister, Cande (Rob) Cranfill; his brother, Ricky Porter Jr.; his nephews and nieces, Jake Kiel, Alex Kiel, Lily Doty, and Rowynn Porter; his aunt, Cheryl Bruno of Aurora, CO; his great aunt, Marcia (Rick) Cox of Crothersville, IN; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Wayne Scallorn, and his aunt, Cindy Patrick.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jon Pace and Scotty Wessel at the Burkholder Funeral Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Seymour.
