Graveside service for Ernest Miessel, 92, of Rapid City, formerly of Dickinson, will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Dickinson Cemetery with Pastor Ryan Karey officiating.
Ernest was born October 14th, 1933 in Dunn Co., ND to William and Magdalena (Entzel) Miessel. He was raised and educated in Dunn Co., ND graduating from Dodge High School. After graduation he joined the Navy. When he returned home, he attended Dakota Business College of Fargo, ND. He married Neva Haroldson on July 3, 1955. They had 3 sons Jeffrey, Gregory, and Kevin. After college he was employed at Kovash Construction in Dickinson, ND for 8 years. He then went to work for Powers Construction in Fargo, ND as an office manager for 3 years. In 1966 he became a partner in F&J Construction in Dickinson, ND for 27 years. He retired in 1993 and they moved to Rapid City, SD in 2000. He loved to travel whether with the motorhome or otherwise. He enjoyed playing the slot machines and going out with family and friends for a nice dinner.
He is survived by his wife Neva, (2) sons Jeffrey (Tatiana) Lakewood, CO and Gregory (Jo Ann) Rapid City, SD (1) sister Esther Adolf, ND (1) sister-in-law Darlene Miessel, ND.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, a son Kevin and (1) brother Elmer. On July 3rd he celebrated their milestone 70th wedding anniversary.
