Ernest Martinez Paredez was born in Alvarado, California to Jesus Paredes and Secundina (Nina) Martinez. He was raised by his grandparents, Juan and Gregoria(Goya) Paredes, with his Aunts and Uncles who he called brothers and sisters in El Monte, California where he graduated high school. Eventually, he settled in Newark, California, where he remained a resident for 61 years.
Ernest was a devoted husband, preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 wonderful years, Ernestine Paredez. Together, they started a family in San Leandro(Orchard Ave), California, in a loving home raising three children.
He was the cherished father to: Carol (Lee Necker), Lucy (David McDaniel), and Steve (Jackie Paredez); a proud grandfather of seven, great-grandfather of eighteen, and great-great-grandfather of five. He was also a guiding presence to numerous godchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In his working years, Ernest was employed at the Fisher Body division of General Motors in Oakland, California and then transferred to the General Motors plant in Fremont, California where he was fondly known as " Taco Ernie". He dedicated over 30 years to his automotive career before retiring.
Even after retirement, Ernest remained active and generous. He provided lawn care for elderly and found peace in gardening. He had a passion for raising parakeets and finches, listening to 1940s and Latin music, dancing, playing cards, and enjoying shared meals with friends and family. A loyal fan of the Oakland A's and the Oakland Raiders, he also enjoyed traveling, watching Westerns, and had a well-known sweet tooth.
Ernest loved his family beyond words and was truly grateful for the life he lived and the people he shared it with. His life was a blessing, and his memory is a treasure. He is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing at St. Raphael Chapel, Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Hayward. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Saint Edwards Catholic Church,. Burial will immediately follow at Sepulchre cemetery, Hayward.
