Ernest Rusack Obituary

COVENTRY, RI- Ernest G. Rusack, 89, formerly of Phillips Hill Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Kent Regency in Warwick, RI. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Dexter) Frail-Rusack.

Born on December 9, 1935, in Providence, RI, to Herman and Elly (Redeker) Rusack, he graduated from Coventry High School, attended the University of Rhode Island for 2 years studying agriculture and lived in West Greenwich moving to Coventry in 1968.

Ernie served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He worked for 32 years for the former Eastern Airlines at T.F. Green Airport, retiring in 1991 as a Senior Customer Service Agent. He later worked as a bus driver for the Town of Coventry and for the Coventry Senior Center. For 20 years he showed horses & mules at fairs and in parades.

A member of the Masonic Fraternity he belonged to Manchester Lodge #12 F&AM, Anthony, Landmark Chapter #10 R.A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Providence, and Gaspee Order Swords of Bunker Hill. He was a member of Narragansett Chapter Order of DeMolay and served as the 1st Master Counselor of the Byron A. Northup Chapter Order of DeMolay. He was a member of the Northeast Haflinger Association (horses) and of Saint Francis Episcopal Church, formerly Christ Church, in Coventry.He is survived by his sister Karen DiPadua, whose husband was the late

Anthony Tony DiPadua, and their children Stephen, Mark and Nancy DiPadua. He was the longtime companion of Barbara Stetson.

His funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Calling hours were held at the funeral home on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Burial with military honors will be in Oakland Cemetery, Coventry.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Saint Francis Episcopal Church, 132 Peckham Lane, RR#2, Coventry, RI 02816 or to VNA of Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.

A very good friend and fellow worker with Eastern Airlines
we kept in touch with each other throughout the years which is very rare today
I went and visited him back in June when he was in the nursing home
I'm so glad I did I wanted to see him one more time and talk about the old times
his memory was shot and right to the key all the time he will always be remembered
as a very wonderful friend throughout all the years
