In Loving Memory of Ernestine Bergo November 1, 1940 – June 18, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ernestine Bergo on June 18, 2025. Ernestine was born on November 1, 1940, in Watsonville, California, to Jesus and Victoria Valencia, courageous Mexican immigrants who paved the way for their family with dedication and love.
Ernestine's life was marked by resilience, kindness, and a deep devotion to her loved ones. In 1982, she married Richard Bergo, beginning a new chapter filled with companionship and adventure. Together, they settled in Santa Cruz, California, where Ernestine dedicated over 35 years of hard work to Pilsbury Green Giant before her well-deserved retirement. Later in life, she and Richard moved to Turlock, California, where she continued to build treasured memories with family and friends.
Ernestine found joy in the simple pleasures of life-delighting in shopping trips and, most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Her warmth, generosity, and laughter brightened the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sherry Lynn Brown, and her loving sisters: Carmen Ramirez, Angie Upson, Susan Becerril, and Vickie Haisch. Her legacy continues in her four cherished grandchildren-Samantha Hernandez, Hunter Green, Kameryn Turner, and Kingston Turner-and her great-grandchild, Malik Cooper.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her dear parents, Jesus and Victoria Valencia, and her brother, Joseph Valencia.
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Ernestine's compassion, strength, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1pm-3pm, with a gathering to follow at 342 Hushbeck Avenue in Watsonville.
