Ernestine Moorer, a beloved member of her community since 1974, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Copperas Cove, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on February 25, 1938, in Mobile, Alabama, Ernestine lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and service to others.
Ernestine married Eugene Moorer in Pascagoula, MS, April 2, 1955, forming a bond that created many cherished memories throughout his military career. Outside of supporting Eugene and the family, Ernestine had her own distinguished career. She devoted the first ten years of her nursing career to the Copperas Cove Independent School District (CCISD), where she touched the lives of countless students and faculty members with her kindness and unwavering commitment to their well-being. Her caring nature was further exemplified during her 20 years as a crossing guard for CCISD, where she ensured the safety of children as they navigated their way to and from school. Ernestine's dedication to her work and her community created a legacy that will be cherished by those who knew her. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Copperas Cove where she devoted over 40 years of spiritually helping people to learn the Bible. This was the love of her life and what brought her the most joy.
Ernestine was known not only for her professional contributions but also for her warm spirit and vibrant personality. She had an innate ability to connect with people, inspiring comfort and trust in those she encountered. Her genuine laughter and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone around her, embodying the essence of a true caregiver and protector.
As we remember Ernestine Moorer, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by service, love, and an unyielding commitment to the community she cherished and the God she loved. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Moorer; two sons, Eugene Jr. and James Moorer; daughter, Luberta Stovall; and sisters, Wille Anderson, and Jessie Mae Scott.
Ernestine is survived by a son, Terrance Moorer; grandchildren, Michelle St. Julian and Kyle Moorer; two nieces; and a host of dear friends.
