Estelle A. Gesell, age 90, of Brookville, Indiana died Monday, October 27, 2025 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville, Indiana following a lengthy illness.
Born December 2, 1934 in St. Peters, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Edward J & Stella M. (Ritzi) Schoettelkotte. On May 7, 1955 she became the wife of Marvin L. Gesell, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2016.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peters/St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
A homemaker, she had also worked at McPherson's in Sunman, Indiana as a proofreader.
In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards, as well as watching the birds. She was an excellent cook and shared her talent with family and friends at pitch ins and church dinners.
Survivors include four children, Darrell L. Gesell, Brenda K. (William) Goff, Douglas A. (Jackie) Gesell, Christopher M. Gesell; two grandchildren, Neil Brown & Britney Gesell; two great-grandchildren, Paxton Brown & Malani Gesell; four sisters, Rita (Bud) Erhart, Clare (Larry) McCool, Anne Schoettelkotte, Ellen (Wink) Rauch; two brothers, Bernie Schoettelkotte and Gene Schoettelkotte.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marvin, she was preceded in death by a sister, Regina (Lester) Kunkel; two brothers, Charlie (Marlene) Schoettelkotte and Eddie Schoettelkotte.
Family & friends may visit from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1207 East Road, Brookville, Indiana.
Rev. Santhosh Yohannan will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 6, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will then follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Klemmes Corner.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peters Catholic Church or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
