Esther proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy, but also for the WAVES. Her occupation in the WAVES was Hospital Apprentice, First Class, where she worked on the amputee ward and records keeper. Her and George were two of the founding members of the Bremen VFW and she was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary, where she held almost every office. She loved sewing and quilting, swinging on her front porch, listening to her records, spending time with her family and her Horizon church family, and was an avid lover of history. She loved to travel with her husband, George, and one of her most memorable travel experiences was taking The Honor Flight with her daughter, Mary Jo.
Her dedication to serving the community as a politician and veteran will always be remembered, as well as her devotion to the military. She was a true servant leader and a legend among the community. Her family would like to thank her church friends, her home health care team, and hospice care for their devotion to her care and letting her spend her time at home.
