Evelyn N. James, 81, of Payne, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born in Woodburn, Indiana on January 31, 1940, a daughter of the late Elsa (Schmidt) and Carl Pieper.
She worked at Magnavox and Ohio City Manufacturer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her smile and sense of humor will be remembered most by her family and friends. She was an avid camper and collector of cardinals.
Evelyn will be sadly missed by her daughters, Cynthia (Mike) Kipfer, Fort Wayne & Connie (Steve) Snyder of Payne; grandchildren, Noah (Erica) Snyder, Autumn (Joe) Boerger, Nate (Shelby) Kipfer & Natalie (Troy) Vance and great grandchildren, Kairi, Bentley & Brooklyn.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, to whom she was married April 11, 1959 and siblings, Raymond, Norbert, Oscar, Melvin & Wilbert Pieper, Marcella Harrison, Lucille Smithart, Ruth Ann Hootman & Dorothy Sailer
Viewing Friday, Aug. 6th, 5 pm to 7 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne.
Evelyn's funeral service is Saturday, Aug. 7th, 10 am, with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Payne.
She will be laid to rest at Wiltsie Cemetery.
Memorials are to St. James Lutheran Church, 511 W Townline St, Payne, OH 45880.
