Evelyn Rutledge Obituary

Evelyn A. Rutledge, 89, of Farmland, IN, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, peacefully surrounded by loved ones, in the comforts of home. Evelyn was born in Muncie, IN, on June 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Theodore Elmer and Mary Beulah (Sims) McCord. She was a 1954 graduate of Ridgeville High School, formerly worked in Home Healthcare and was the loving wife of Jimmie Ray Rutledge who she happily married on June 3, 1956. Evelyn the "BINGO Queen" was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #353, loved to travel, go shopping, boating, dancing, play slot machines, trips to Dale Hollow, Las Vegas and keep her husband Jimmie in line. She was an adventurous, caring, social butterfly, who was always dressed with class from top to bottom. Whether someone was celebrating, grieving or recovering, Evelyn was never too busy to send just the right card to that special friend, and she absolutely cherished her time at family gatherings. Evelyn is survived by her husband Jimmie, son Travis Rutledge (Stefanie), daughter Tammy Rutledge-Brown (Bob), brother Leon McCord (Joyce), grandchildren; Michelle Frazier, Justin Wilson, great grandchild Jazmine Bryan (Andrew), great great grandchildren; Emma Childress, Leesie Wilson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Leslie Rutledge, 11 brothers; Duane, Monty, Ronny, Alfred, Melvin, Joe, Robert, Danny, Benny, Darrel, Orville, 2 sisters; Freida, Lavena and 1 grandchild Jayden Rice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Dawn Milligan officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Farmland, IN. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel.
