Evelyn Smith-Smith Obituary
Loraine was born February 7, 1934 at home in McDade, Texas to Harvey and Grace (DeGlandon) Smith.
On December 25, 1952, Loraine married James William "Smutt" Smith of Lexington and they raised 2 children together. They were married for 63 years before his passing.
Loraine was a devoted mother and homemaker whom had many hats. Until World War II, Loraine lived at Oak Hill, but soon had to leave when Camp Swift took their home and they found a place at Knobbs Springs Community. She was eight years old. After that she helped on her family farm in the Knobbs Springs Community, Loraine was a gifted seamstress and made several beautiful quilts. She also liked to garden, camp, spend time with her family, and play dominoes. She graduated from Lexington High School. Family members nicknamed her "Aunt Sugar" for her love of sweets!
Loraine is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and daughter.
Loraine is survived by her son, Jimmy Wayne Smith of Lexington; son-in-law, Roy Schindler of Lexington, 2 granddaughters; Diana Stokes (Randy) of Lexington, Daphne Boles (Henry) of Mayfield, Kentucky; six great grandchildren; Jonathon Stokes (Taylor) of College Station, Justin Stokes of Lexington, Jasmine Stokes of Lexington, Lissa Boles of Lexington, Tennessee, Nathan Boles (Laura) of Mayfield, Kentucky, Michaela Boles (Tyler) of Mayfield, Kentucky; and two great great grandchildren; Emery Jean Boles of Mayfield, Kentucky and Oakley Ann Steele of Mayfield, Kentucky.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington, Texas from 6-8PM.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 at 10:00 AM at
