Evelyn Krithel Barrett Thompson, 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 surrounded by her family at the Meadows Assisted Living in Fulton. She was born on September 9, 1935 in Arkansas to the late Albert and Opal Jacobs Barrett. Evelyn married J.C. Thompson on August 14, 1954. For several years she worked in the area garment industry as a seamstress. Everyone who knew Evelyn knew that her greatest passion in life was caring for others. She enjoyed working in the nursing homes and even during her stay at the Meadows in Fulton, she was helping to take care of others. She devoted herself to the needs of her family. She also was a devoted caregiver for her grandson, Nathan Mayhall until his death in 2020. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, traveling and sightseeing and being with her family. She was affectionately called "Pete" by her siblings and "Nana" by her grandchildren. Most of all, Evelyn was a faithful and devoted child of God. She was baptized in Jesus name with the evidence of speaking in tongues. After recieving the Holy Ghost, she never ceased to praise God, even during the most challenging times of life. Evelyn's family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now face to face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thompson; daughters, Melissa Smith (Richard) of Aberdeen and Susan Brasfield (Ricky) of Amory; son, Chad Thompson of Aberdeen; sister, Clytee Raper; brothers, Steve Barrett (Mary), GA, Loyd "Butch" Barrett (Linda) of Aberdeen and Paul "Balem" Barrett (Carolyn) of Becker; grandchildren, Eric Wylie (Alicia), Christy Sorrells (David), Brandon Smith (Kristi) and Brad Smith (Halie); great grandchildren, Raeleigh and Ethan Sorrells, Hayden and Abbye Smith, John Richard "Peanut" Smith and Easton Wylie; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Roger and Donna Colburn; Doug and Etta Saget.
