Florence M. Meeks, 87, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2025, in Bluffton, following an extended illness.
Florence was born in Altamont, TN. on March 17, 1938, to Jessie E. and Nannie (Hobbs) Smith. She married Siebert F. Meeks on Jan. 15, 1955, in Dalton, GA, he preceded her in death on May 25, 2020. Florence retired from K-Mart in Bluffton after 30 plus years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, solving word search puzzles, tending to her flowers and crochet.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Durham of Acworth, GA. and Sheila (Chris) Kleinknight of Bluffton; four grandchildren, five grt. grandchildren and 4 grt. grt. grandchildren with another expected in September.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, H.D Smith, J.L. Smith and Price Smith and three sisters, Evelyn Winton, Margaret Hester and Delma Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 2:00 until 7:00 PM at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Visitation will also be held on Sunday, May 18, from 1:00 until 6:00 PM (CDT), at Cumberland Funeral Home, Foster and Lay Chapel, 96 Saint Clair Street, Tracy City, TN. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM (CDT), also at the Cumberland Funeral Home, with Minister Clayton Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Coalmont Cemetery in Coalmont, TN.
