Fitchburg – Florida T. (Caissie) LeBlanc, 87, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully at home on July 1st, surrounded by loved ones.
Florida was born in New Brunswick, Canada on June 5, 1938, a daughter of the late Alfred and Laudia (LeBlanc) Caissie. As a young woman, she worked for several years at Independent Lock, before raising her family. She later worked as a night health aide, caring for many patients in their own homes.
Florida loved flowers; she could often be found outside tending her many plants around the yard. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who always enjoyed visits back home to Canada. A devout Catholic, Florida would say the rosary daily, attend prayer meetings and was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Joseph Church in Fitchburg.
She is survived by her children, Lucy Caron and husband Donald of Fitchburg, Donald LeBlanc and wife Debbie of Fitchburg, George LeBlanc of Fitchburg, James "Jim" LeBlanc and wife Nancy of Spokane, WA, and Yvonne Persson and husband Mark of Royalston; grandchildren, Sarah LeBlanc of FL, Kimmie LeBlanc of FL, Tanya Persson of Royalston, Ashley Persson of Phillipston, Michael Persson of Fairhaven, MA, Melissa Persson of Baldwinville, and Amy Caron of Lancaster; great grandchildren, Carter Bussiere and Kinsley Christian; siblings, Edmond Caissie of Canada, Elise McDermott of Fitchburg, Marguerite Pitre of Canada, Rosella Doiron of Leominster, Anne Lozeau of Leominster, Diane Pellerin of Canada and Venolia Dubey of CA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Florida was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Philippe G. LeBlanc, who passed away on February 6, 2025. She was also predeceased by her three sisters, Laura Holm, Yvonne Siart, and Anise Caissie.
Florida's burial will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, July 10 at 2:00pm. The Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg is directing arrangements. www.andersonfuneral.com
