FRANCES COLLINS
Medon, TN: Mary Frances Murdaugh Collins age 79, passed away November 26, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, Decatur, AL.
She was born April 9, 1945, in Jackson and grew up in Dyersburg, the daughter of the late Dewey Lois Murdaugh, Sr. and Gazzelle Beatrice Ballard Murdaugh. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1964. She married William Gerald Collins in 1965. She worked in the garment industries, Salant & Salant and Oakley Fashions. They lived in Bemis a few years and then the Deanburg Community most of their married life. Mr. Collins preceded her in death in February 2017.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed sewing from her home, making her own clothes.
She was a member of the Big Springs Methodist Church. She loved singing at the church with Wanda and Barbara. She had served as church clerk at Big Springs and cleaned the church building every Monday.
Mrs. Collins is survived by a son, Alan Collins (Tonya) of Trinity, AL; two grandchildren, Dillon Collins and Dakota Collins and a brother, Dewey L. Murdaugh, Jr. of Toone.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, December 1st at Big Springs Methodist Church with Bro. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Big Springs Cemetery, at Medon, TN.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM service time Sunday at Big Springs Methodist Church.
