Frances M. Milligan, 99, of Tipton, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at Tipton Oak Manor.
She was born on May 14, 1926, in Tipton, MO, a daughter of Louis and Catherine (Knipp) Geiser.
Frances attended St. Andrew Catholic School and graduated from Tipton High School in 1944. On September 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Roy Glen Milligan at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton. The couple shared many years together until Glen’s passing on May 3, 1997.
Frances was a devoted and lifelong member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Frances was the parish’s oldest member at the time of her passing. She was active in the Altar Sodality and took great pride in her faith and her church family.
Frances began her working life as a switchboard operator for the telephone company and later retired from the State of Missouri’s Department of Revenue, where she worked as a secretary. After her retirement, she continued working part-time as a cook at Clarksburg School, the Tipton Nutrition Center, and she spent a lot of time on the family farm north of Clarksburg helping Glen attend to the cattle.
She was known for enjoying life’s simple pleasures, like gardening and she had the most beautiful vegetable garden in town, crocheting, or a good game of cards. She often enjoyed card games with friends at the Nutrition Center, where she was a familiar and cherished face, but her main pride and joy were her three grandsons.
Frances will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her strong work ethic, and her joyful presence in the lives of all who knew her.
Survivors include one son, Gary Milligan and his wife Debbie of Tipton; three grandsons, Travis, Jared, and Zachary Milligan; two great-grandsons, Braxton and Hudson.
In addition to both of her parents and her husband Frances was preceded in death by four brothers, Herman, Lawrence, Joe, and Walter Geiser; one sister Elizabeth Ramage, and one granddaughter, Angela Marie Milligan.
Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 9:45 am with visitation immediately following until service time at St Andrew Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Father Anthony Viviano officiating. Burial will be held at the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the St. Andrews School Foundation or the Tipton Nutrition Center.
