Francisca Martinez, affectionately known as Frances, was born on October 17, 1948, in Vera Cruz, Mexico, and passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in San Diego, Texas. She lived a life that exemplified love, kindness, and service to others, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her career, Frances dedicated herself to various roles that reflected her nurturing spirit. She worked in food services at St. Joseph Catholic School, as well as at Christus Spohn Hospital, P&S Hospital, and La Viana Hospital. Frances also offered her talents as a housekeeper and nanny, embodying the values of hard work and commitment to those around her.
An active member of the Catholic faith community, Frances was known for her selfless acts of service. Whether it was helping with donations and fundraisers or lending her hands where needed, her contributions were a testament to her deep-rooted faith and desire to uplift others. Frances lived her faith through her actions and deeds, and her unwavering dedication had a profound impact on her community.
Frances was not only a devoted caregiver, but also a loving figure to many children whom she helped raise, nurturing and caring for them as if they were her own. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of Christopher Logan Luna, Mary Fuentes, Mike Fuentes, Richard Harris, and the late Frankie Harris, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
With her warm and lively personality, Frances found joy in various activities such as playing loteria, bingo, playing maquinitas in the game rooms, attending jamaicas, and celebrating family occasions like quinceaneras and weddings. She embraced every moment with gratitude and respect, often surrounded by loved ones during church or family events.
Frances is survived by her Catholic faith family and her dear friends and caregivers, Omar and Aurora Luna, Susanna Garza, and Maggie Mijares. Her compassionate spirit will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched and her memory will live on as a beacon of love and generosity.
As we remember Frances, we honor a woman whose life was a beautiful illustration of faith in action, leaving an indelible mark of kindness in her wake. Her legacy will not only endure in the hearts of those who loved her but also in the countless lives she positively influenced throughout her remarkable journey.
Frances’ faith family will gather to honor her at Trevino Funeral Home at 120 E. Front Street, on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by Inurnment at Roberson-Collins Memorial Cemetery.
