David John Strazdus, 93, of Shichshinny, died on Oct. 22, 2025, at Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Nanticoke.
Born Aug. 16, 1932, in Wyoming, Pa., he was a son of the late Walter and Goldie (Updgrove) Strazdus.
David was a graduate of Northwest High School, Shickshinny.
On June 28, 1952, he married the former Delores Rose Zalesny, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage together before her death on June 29, 2007.
He was a former member of Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary's, Mocanoqua, and member of Christ the King Mission, Benton. David was an avid farmer, school bus driver, and Weis potato chip factory employee.
He loved gardening, traveling, and driving school bus for the local field hockey team, as well as other sports teams. David was a Knights of Columbus member and loved serving in his local church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Grajewski.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Shaffer, and her husband, James, of Nescopeck; one brother, Donald Strazdus and his wife, Doris, of Alabama; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Stephanie; and two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Silas.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Mayo Funeral Home, 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m., with his pastor, the Very Rev. Richard Mowery officiating.
Burial will be in St. Martha's Cemetery, Fairmount Springs.
The family requests that any memorial contributions in David's name be made to Christ the King Mission, 300 Mendenhall Ln., Benton, PA 17814; or online to the St. LaBre Indian school at www.stlabre.org.
