POWELL

Frank Powell, 89, of London died Sunday, July 20, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 7, 1936, in South Solon; he was a son of Otto and Laura (Davis) Powell.

For 32 ½ years, Frank had worked for Columbia Gas as a serviceman. A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of London, he had served as a deacon at the church. He was also active in the community belonging to the former London Jaycees and he had also been a London City Councilman for 16 years. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Frank never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years, Nancy (Smith) Powell; children the late Frank "Gene" Powell, Jr., Marcella (Mike) Colley, Charles (Jennifer) Powell and Holly Murry (Matt Hamilton) and their families and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Powell, sisters Mary Severt, Wanda Clark and Betty Roach.

A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in the First Presbyterian Church of London, 211 Garfield Avenue, London, Ohio 43140; with Pastor Désirée M. Youngblood officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 PM until time of service.

Memorials in Frank's name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of London.
